☀️ Summer 2026 · Avon Middle School · Ages 7–14

A summer they’ll
talk about for years.

A week-long acting intensive where children build real performing arts skills, make new friends, and finish the week on stage. Half-day, beginner-friendly, and genuinely fun.

Dates July 27–31, 2026
Location Avon Middle School
Ages 7–10 & 11–14
Format Half-Day · Mon–Fri

Five days. Real skills.
One unforgettable week.

The Acting Summer Workshop is one of the most popular programs PAP offers every year — and for good reason. In just five half-days, students are immersed in the craft of acting in a way that school programs simply don’t have time to do.

Every day builds on the last. Students work on scenes, improvisation, character development, and performance skills with Michael Lamb personally — the same instructor who has trained students who have gone on to Broadway, NBC television, and regional theaters across Connecticut.

The week culminates in a performance share for families — an informal presentation where students showcase what they’ve created. Not a polished production, but a genuine glimpse into a week of real work. Parents are always surprised by how much their child grew in just five days.

Registration is through the Avon Recreation Department. Spots are limited.

What students work on
during the week.

🎭

Scene Work

Students work on scenes from plays and scripts, learning how to bring a character to life with truth and specificity.

💡

Improvisation

Fast-paced, fun, and foundational. Improv builds quick thinking, presence, and the confidence to take creative risks.

🎤

Voice & Movement

How to use your voice to be heard, and your body to tell a story. Every great performance starts here.

👤

Character Development

Who is this person? What do they want? How do they move and speak? Students learn to build characters from the inside out.

🙌

Ensemble Work

Theater is a team sport. Students learn to collaborate, support each other, and create something together.

🌟

Performance Share

The week ends with a presentation for families — a chance for students to show what they’ve discovered about themselves.

From families who
have been through it.

Lyle had a great time and has brought so much great stuff home for us to play with together. He loves having us take “roles” in books and read them aloud like we’re acting it out. Please let me know what else you have coming up this summer.

My daughter really liked the acting classes! The instructor was very good at teaching. She particularly enjoyed creating mini improvisations in small groups. She will register if there are other sessions!

Private coaching is the next step.

Many students who attend the summer workshop are ready to go deeper by fall. Michael’s private one-on-one coaching through Lamb Studios Online picks up exactly where the workshop leaves off — same teacher, more focus, online via Zoom.
